Self Portrait Object
Trompe l'oeil: To trick or fool the eye
Objectives/Requirements: Create a realistic object, or group of objects, that reflect you (This object only represents a part of you not you in its entirety). This may be an object that represents your culture (traditions, objects, clothing, foods, etc.), the time period in which you live (21st century, millennial generation), the place you live (United States, San Diego, your house, etc.), or your interests, hobbies, favorite past time, etc. It should be an item that tells the viewer something about you. Your object should be realistic, or appear true to life, and have excellent craftsmanship. You may use any hand building technique. Make the object actual size or scale down small objects or scale up small objects to create a pop art inspired trompe l'oeil. Your object must be truely 3 dimensional and cannot be flat or simple in shape (You can NOT make things such as sports balls, phone, pizza, laptop, tennis racket, etc.)
Grading: 25 points total
6 points: creating a sculpture that is three dimensional (height, width, depth) with attention to details paid from all viewpoints
2 points: name and/or signature incised on bottom of piece BEFORE firing
2 points: Thoughtful answers to reflection questions when turning into google (after piece completion)
5 points: Attention paid to small details and accurate textures. Actual details on object are transferred onto sculpture with both clay and paint.
10 points: craftsmanship, quality, and EFFORT
